Next year’s NJCAA Division II Men’s National Basketball Tournament in Danville will apparently also involve another national tournament at the same time. DACC President Stephen Nacco explains…
{‘’It looks like concurrently – and the NJCAA has changed the tournament. It’s normally a ‘March Madness’ here at Danville. It’ll be the week of April 19th in 2021,’’ said Nacco. ‘’But concurrently with that we’re going to be hosting on another part of the campus a National E-Sports Tournament. ..I think it’s one of the basketball games. So they’ll be competing – literally thousands of people all over the country – competing in a video basketball tournament.’’}
DACC Trustees learned about plans to host the National E-Sports Tournament here during a study session held at the college on Saturday. E-Sports have been growing in popularity.
Also during the study session, trustees learned the number of DACC students who are NJCAA All-America members has doubled from last year….
{Sixteen student-athletes All-American, the most ever and by double-digits more than any since ’07,’’ said President Nacco. ‘’So there’s a lot of good things going on in a pandemic that we can see.’’}
The pandemic forced the cancellation of this year’s NJCAA Division II Men’s National Basketball Tournament which DACC was suppose to host again. Now those at the college are looking forward to the games returning next year.
