Vermilion County saw eight new COVID-19 cases reported Wednesday afternoon.
Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Doug Toole says the new cases involve one person in their 60’s, two people in the 50’s, one person in their 40’s, two people in their 20’s and one preschooler.
Four of the new coronavirus patients are related to another person who recently tested positive.
The county currently has 19 active cases, with one person in the hospital and the rest in isolation. The total number of local positive tests is 236.
The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 1,645 new confirmed cases statewide, including 16 deaths. One of the deaths is a woman in her 80’s from Iroquois County.
Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 198,593 cases and 7,672 deaths. The seven-day statewide case positivity rate is 4.1 percent. As of Tuesday night, 1,525 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 357 patients were in the ICU and 129 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
