Danville firefighters are battling a scrap fire at Mervis Industries.
Lowell Hudson of the Danville Fire Department says firefighters were called to Mervis’s plant at 1919 E. Fairchild St., around 9:30 p.m. Friday after a pile of rubbishcaught fire.
Crews used an aerial ladder to put out the flames.
Firefighters are still on the scene as of 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
No word has been received on the cause of the fire or how much damage it caused, though Hudson says no one was injured.
An employee of the plant who was watching the fire says employees were told the plant would be closed Saturday due to the fire.
