Danville alderman are set to consider a new agreement for the second casino application that the city plans to send to the Illinois Gaming Board.
A resolution on tonight’s agenda calls for the city to again partner with Thomas Wilmot and Wilmorite Construction, LLC, which formed Danville Development, LLC, in forming a new casino proposal.
City council members approved the original casino agreement last October. But the proposal with Haven Gaming failed to gain the support of the Illinois Gaming Board, with its chairman declaring that the proposal lacked much substance and suggested that it was simply a “placeholder” application.
Aldermen will also consider zoning items that were approved earlier this month before the planning and zoning commission. They will also vote on accepting justice assistance grants.
Tonight’s city council meeting is being held in-person in the basement of City Hall, but capacity is being limited to a maximum of 50 people. The meeting will also be streamed on the city’s website.
