After seeing a brief decline of one case and then none over the previous two days, Vermilion County saw four new COVID-19 cases Thursday afternoon.
Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Doug Toole says the new cases involve one person in their 30’s, one person in their 20’s and two teenagers.
The county now has 18 active cases, none of which require the patient to be hospitalized. The total number of cases in Vermilion County stands at 268.
The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 1,832 new cases and 27 deaths on Thursday, including one man in his 50’s from Champaign County.
Statewide, the total number of cases is 213,721, and 7,833 people have died of the virus so far across the state. The seven-day case positivity rate is 4.4 percent, with the Metro East area and the region including Kankakee and Will counties also seeing a high number of positive cases.
