Vermilion County has five new COVID-19 cases. The Vermilion County Health Department reports the new cases involve one person in their 70’s, one person in their 60’s, one person in their 30’s, one person in their 20’s and one teenager.
The county currently has 15 active cases, all in isolation. 273 cases have been confirmed so far since the pandemic began in March.
Statewide, the Illinois Department of Public Health says 2,356 new cases were confirmed in the past 24 hours and 17 more people have died, including one woman in her 80’s from Iroquois County. Illinois has seen a total of 218,285 cases and 7,874 deaths. The week-long positivity rate remains flat at 4.3 percent. Region 6 has a positivity rate below two percent. Two counties in Region 6–Clay and Moultrie counties–are at a warning level for an outbreak.
