A Danville-based electronic sign manufacturer has won a national award for a project it completed in Las Vegas.
Watchfire Signs received the Special Construction Best Product 2020 Southwest by the Engineering News-Record. ENR says 74 entries were considered in 19 categories. An awards ceremony will be held in November at a hotel in Phoenix.
The company won the award for its work on the Fremont Street Experience on the Las Vegas Strip. The canopy contains 130,000 square feet of LED lights and is the largest single video screen in the world.
Watchfire designed LED displays that can be trimmed to not affect objects protruding through the display. It allows for sunlight to pass through the glass while still allowing an LED display.
An estimated 20 million people visit the Fremont Street Experience each year. It is 1,500 feet long and suspended 90 feet in the air.
