Unemployment decreased in July in Danville and all across the state.
The Illinois Department of Employment Security says the Danville metropolitan area saw 9.9 percent unemployment in July, which was down from 12.3 percent it saw in June, but still much higher than last year’s unemployment rate, which was 5.4 percent.
Danville by itself saw an unemployment rate of 12.3 percent in July, down two percentage points from June but almost double what it was a year ago.
The largest job losses in the Danville area were manufacturing, hospitality, government and the business services sector.
