Five new COVID-19 cases were reported in Vermilion County over the three-day holiday weekend.
Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Doug Toole says one person in their 30’s and one teenager tested positive Saturday, a person in their 40’s on Sunday and one person in their 70’s and a person in their 20’s on Labor Day.
Friday afternoon saw 10 new cases, consisting of one person in their 30’s, five people in their 20’s, two grade-school-aged children and two preschoolers.
Locally, there are 370 positive cases overall. Toole says one additional person has been hospitalized due to the virus.
The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 1,381 cases and eight more deaths Monday afternoon, bringing the state’s totals to 250,961 cases and 8,179 deaths.
IDPH also says 29 counties are considered to be at a warning level for potential outbreaks. In Region 6, those counties are Coles, Cumberland, Edgar, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Lawrence and Shelby counties.
