City council members approved a $6.3 million sewer reconstruction project for areas on both sides of Lake Vermilion.
City Engineer Sam Cole says the city will receive a loan from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency for the project, which Mayor Rickey Williams Jr. says are “much needed” for the areas in the northwest part of Danville.
Construction is expected to begin before the end of the year after the contract with Stark Excavating is finalized, and Cole says construction will likely take a year to complete. He said council members will consider a road construction portion of the project in January.
Cole said the road portion includes the bridge over Lake Vermilion along Denmark Road. He said Denmark Road will remain open to traffic with traffic signals during the project except for a couple of days.
