Several area school districts are receiving money from the state to help close the digital divide among students.
Governor J.B. Pritzker says that 471 school districts across the state are receiving a total of $80 million in CARES Act funding to help students have access to high-quality digital learning.
State Superintendent of Education Carmen Ayala says several school districts across the state did not have adequate technology for every student to participate in remote learning in March, and that has been heightened because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Among the schools receiving money are:
- Bismarck-Henning ($74,000)
- Danville District 118 ($322,000)
- Georgetown-Ridge Farm ($81,000)
- Hoopeston Area ($93,000)
- Oakwood ($83,000)
- Rossville-Alvin ($50,000)
- ROE Safe Schools Program ($31,000)
- Westville ($100,000)
