Indiana State Police say one person has died after a five-vehicle pileup on State Route 28 last night.
The accident occurred about two miles west of the Fountain-Tippecanoe county line, several miles east of Attica.
Police say a woman waiting in the westbound lane of the highway to turn into a driveway when she was struck from behind by a driver who did not stop in time. Another driver, 59-year-old Diana Hanthorne of Williamsport, swerved into the eastbound lane to avoid the crash but collided head-on with a pickup truck. A Mazda heading eastbound behind the pickup truck was unable to stop in time and crashed.
Hanthorne was pronounced dead at the scene.
The highway was closed for about four hours as police investigated the crash.
