Vermilion County continues to have a steady increase in COVID-19 cases.
The Vermilion County Health Department says 56 new cases were reported over the weekend and seven county residents are in the hospital with complications from the virus.
The new cases consist of:
- Four people in their 80’s
- Nine people in their 70’s
- Eight people in their 60’s
- Seven people in their 50’s
- Nine people in their 40’s
- Four people in their 30’s
- Four people in their 20’s
- Six teenagers
- Three grade-school-aged children
- One toddler.
Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Doug Toole says 29 of the new cases are family-related. 809 cases have been seen overall locally. The Illinois Department of Public Health says the state’s totals are 301,541 cases and 8,791 deaths. Vermilion County’s seven-day positivity rate is 9.6 percent, while Region 6’s is 7.6 percent.
