The ‘Three Kings of Peace’ – a group that has tried to reduce crime in Danville – is offering a $1,000 reward in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred a week ago. Jerry Hawker, one of the Three Kings of Peace, says the reward is being offered through Crime Stoppers for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the killing of 19-year-old Antonio Jones.
Danville Police say Jones was found lying in the middle of Florida Street, near Commercial Street around 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October first. He was suffering from a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead that evening at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center.
‘’Somebody out there knows something,’’ said Hawker, ‘’and maybe this $1,000 being offered through Vermilion County Crime Stoppers will help get some needed information.’’
‘’If somebody knows something – they should say something,’’ added Hawker. He also noted the victim, Antonio Jones, attended Reverend Frank McCullough’s church. Reverend McCullough and Ed Butler are the other two who make up the Three Kings of Peace.
Since they have been unable to spread their message of peace in local schools because of COVID-19, Hawker says they have tried to reach youth in other ways. He says one place they have been interacting with kids is at a local remote controlled race track.
Anyone who has information that might help police solve the case involving the shooting death of Antonio Jones is being asked to call Danville Police. Or you can leave information anonymously if you wish by calling Vermilion County Crime Stoppers at (217-446-TIPS). That’s 446-8477.
