For the second time since the school year began, Southwest Elementary School in Tilton is heading to full remote learning for a temporary period.
District 118 officials say a staff member at the school recently tested positive for COVID-19.
Students at Southwest Elementary will learn remotely for the next two weeks, with a planned return date of Tuesday, October 27th. Monday, October 26th is a full remote learning day for all district students.
Southwest is one of a number of Vermilion County schools closed temporarily due to coronavirus cases. Bismarck-Henning and Westville moved all of their students to remote learning this past Friday due to a rising number of students with cases and others in quarantine, and the Hoopeston Area school district is joining them starting today.
Georgetown-Ridge Farm began the school year entirely online, but students will have the option of returning to in-person learning starting next week.
