A Westville man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison on a reduced charge stemming from a domestic incident on New Year’s Day.
42-year-old Antoine Mayers pled guilty Tuesday before judge Tom O’Shaughnessy to a class 3 felony count of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. The state agreed to dismiss charges of being an armed habitual criminal, home invasion and residential burglary.
Mayers was arrested January 1st by Danville police after his girlfriend reported to police that Mayers had battered her in the 500 block of Porter Street and then fled the scene. The victim has minor injuries but refused treatment.
Under terms of his sentence, Mayers will have to serve at least 50 percent of the sentence and one year of parole once he is released.
