After starting the first six weeks of the new school year with a mix of in-person and remote learning, Danville District 118 is making the switch to full remote learning for the rest of the month and into November.
District 118 students will learn remotely through Wednesday, November 4th. All schools and offices will be closed during that time.
Superintendent Alicia Geddis says there have been a number of COVID-19 cases in the district and the surrounding area. Two of the district’s elementary schools—Garfield and Southwest—were already under remote learning plans. Liberty, Mark Denman and Northeast school students have also been on all-remote schedules at times since the start of school.
The district began the new school year September 8th with full remote learning for middle school and high school students and a hybrid schedule for elementary school students. A majority of District 118 students have been learning fully remote since the school year began.
Three other Vermilion County public school districts—Bismarck-Henning, Hoopeston and Westville—are on all-remote schedules through the end of October.
