Forty-eight new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Vermilion County, and case rates continue to increase in all areas of the state.
The Vermilion County Health Department is also announcing the ninth death in the county from the virus—a woman in her 70’s who had been hospitalized. Four people have died locally in the past two weeks from the virus.
New cases consist of:
- Three people in their 80’s
- Four people in their 70’s
- Eight people in their 60’s
- Seven people in their 50’s
- Eight people in their 40’s
- Four people in their 30’s
- Five people in their 20’s
- Seven teenagers
- One grade schooler
- One toddler
Currently, Vermilion County has 222 active cases, and has had a total of 1,314 positive cases.
Governor J.B. Pritzker also announced the state is banning indoor restaurant service and restricting social gatherings in southern Illinois as a result of high case counts.
Central Illinois currently sits at 7.6 percent positivity. All of the state’s regions are experiencing increasing positivity rates.
