Eightteen new COVID-19 cases were reported in Vermilion County on Thursday afternoon.
Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Doug Toole says the new cases consist of:
- One person in their 90’s
- Two people in their 70’s
- Two people in their 40’s
- Two people in their 30’s
- Three people in their 20’s
- Six teenagers
- One toddler
Nine local residents are currently hospitalized with coronavirus symptoms. Vermilion County has 184 active cases and 1,390 total cases.
Governor J.B. Pritzker says more stringent mitigations are going to be imposed on the northwest part of the state, where positivity rates have remained high even with a ban on indoor dining. The new restrictions include a limit of six people per outside seating table and further reduction in large gathering capacity.
Toole says 77 people were tested at the drive-through testing site at the health department building Thursday. He says the state’s mobile testing unit might return to Vermilion County the week of November 2nd.
