More people have voted early so far in the 2020 general election than ever before.
Both the Vermilion County Clerk’s Office and the Danville Election Commission say they have broken records for early voting this week. Deputy Vermilion County Clerk Lindsey Light says the clerk’s office has seen 3,025 ballots filled out so far in-person, breaking the 2016 general election record Tuesday afternoon.
Danville Election Commission Director Sandy Delhaye says her office has seen 2,755 early voting ballots cast and another 1,660 absentee ballots received through the mail. She says only 300 Danville residents voted by mail in the spring primary.
Early voting continues until Election Day at the Vermilion County Administration Building in downtown Danville. Thursday is the last day to apply for a vote-by-mail ballot in Illinois.
