Area voters have a few key races to vote on today besides the state and national races.
Residents here in Vermilion County will choose two countywide elected offices:
- The race for Vermilion County State’s Attorney pits incumbent Republican Jacqueline Lacy against challenger and Democrat Sandra Lawlyes.
- Incumbent Republican Circuit Clerk Missy Quick is being challenged by Democrat Gwendolyn Meeks.
Three seats on the Vermilion County Board are also up for grabs:
- Two seats in District 4—which includes Georgetown and Westville—are competitive. Incumbent Republicans Marla Mackiewicz and Mitch Weaver face Democrats Carl Lee Johnson and Germaine Light.
- Current Democrat County Board member Greg Thatcher faces Republican Jerry Hawker in District 7, which includes portions of Danville and Vermilion Heights.
Voters in Georgetown will choose whether the community should be home rule.
Champaign County voters have several competitive races for elected offices, county board and judicial races.
