Members of the Vermilion County Board heard from the Executive Director of the Central Illinois Land Bank Authority last night (Tuesday) who said he’s here to help. Mike Davis discussed how the land bank has been working with governmental units acquiring and improving certain tax or bank foreclosed properties. He said the Authority has been working with a number of partners and developers, but would like to partner with others.
Davis also said property that cannot be rehabilitated should not be sold to people who believe it can. But he cautioned that to make a serious dent in demolitions in Danville ‘’you’d probably need $10-million dollars.’’
‘’I’m really interested in seeing what we can get done here,’’ said Davis. But he noted grant money currently being used by the land bank is just for residential property.
CILBA – the Central Illinois Land Bank Authority – serves not only Vermilion County, but also Champaign County and the City of Decatur.
