Two members who will be leaving the Vermilion County Board were thanked during Tuesday night’s meeting for their service. County Board member Chuck Nesbitt has served eight years and Greg Thatcher served two years on the board.
Nesbitt noted that he served six years on the board’s Public Safety Committee, adding he is proud of some things accomplished during that period…
{‘’We’ve been able to add a couple of sheriff’s deputies. Of course we’d all liked to have had more, but that is better than none – for sure. The other thing I’m pretty proud of too – instead of in-person visits for those that are incarcerated at the county jail, we did implement a video visitation system which makes it much, much safer for our correctional officers,’’ said Nesbitt.}
County Board Chairman Larry Baughn thanked both men for their service, even though Thatcher was absent. And Baughn noted Vermilion County office-holders who were elected or re-elected in this month’s election will be sworn-in on December 1st, 2020. The ceremony will begin at 8:30 that morning at the Rita B. Garman Vermilion County Courthouse. Baughn added the swearing-in ceremony for county board members will occur at their next meeting on December 7th.
