Ameren says it is suspending residential shut-offs through March 31st due to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases and because of winter setting in.
Company officials have established a moratorium on disconnections throughout the pandemic, along with the other major utility companies in the state.
Ameren is urging customers who are experiencing financial challenges due to COVID-19 to take steps to save energy, and continue to pay whatever they can afford in order to avoid falling too far behind on their energy bills.
