The hockey league that includes the Danville Dashers has a new date that it hopes to start its season by.
Officials with the Federal Prospects Hockey League say the latest start date for games is January 15th. They say the date is still tentative and could be pushed back even further if situations change in the states where the FPHL operates.
The FPHL’s board met earlier this week, and they say that the previous start date of mid-December is no longer possible due to COVID-19 restrictions in various states, including here in Illinois.
The league says it still anticipates that its teams will be able to play their regular 40-game season. It hopes to release a schedule in two weeks.
Meanwhile, Palmer Arena’s ice project is behind schedule, but officials there hope to start making ice on the new surface on December 14th. The project has been delayed in part because several workers have been sick.
All events at the arena have been canceled because of new COVID-19 restrictions that went into effect at Midnight. The arena also regularly hosts Danville Youth Hockey, which won’t be happening for now as the state has mandated all youth sports be canceled.
