Four incumbent Danville aldermen and six newcomers have filed as candidates for the April 6, 2021 election, according to Danville Election Commission director Sandy Delhaye.
The candidate filing period ended Monday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
Candidates in next spring’s election are as follows:
- Ward 1: Robert Williams (incumbent)
- Ward 2: No candidates
- Ward 3: Damara Joyner, Heidi Pertell
- Ward 4: Sharon McMahon (incumbent), Tricia Teague
- Ward 5: Mike Puhr (incumbent)
- Ward 6: James Poshard (incumbent), Allan Shepherd
- Ward 7: Kaylan Huber, Darren York
Ward 2 Alderman Dan Duncheon, Ward 3 Alderman R.J. Davis and Ward 7 Alderman Steve Foster did not file as candidates before the deadline.
The deadline for write-in candidates is Thursday, December 24th. If no one runs for the Ward 2 seat, then Mayor Rickey Williams Jr. would have to appoint a replacement after the election.
