The number of people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in Vermilion County has now topped the 3,000-mark.
Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Doug Toole reported 36 new cases on Sunday, as well as 106 new cases on Saturday afternoon which spanned a three-day period including Thanksgiving Day, meaning a total of 142 cases reported since Wednesday.
Currently, there are 228 active coronavirus cases in Vermilion County and 29 people hospitalized with the virus.
The new cases from yesterday consist of:
- One person in their 70’s
- Five people in their 60’s
- Six people in their 50’s
- Five people in their 40’s
- Seven people in their 30’s
- Eight people in their 20’s
- Three teenagers
- One preschooler
Overall, Vermilion County has had 3,035 positive cases. Toole says he expects to see a rise in cases in December, possibly with more than 100 cases per day.
