Two more people from Vermilion County have died from COVID-19.
Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Doug Toole said Tuesday afternoon that the new deaths are a woman in her 60’s and a man in his 90’s. The death count from the virus locally is now at 48 people.
In addition, the health department is also reporting 67 new coronavirus cases. Toole says the new cases, broken down by age, consist of:
- One person in their 90’s
- Five people in their 80’s
- Seven people in their 70’s
- 11 people in their 60’s
- 14 people in their 50’s
- Nine people in their 40’s
- 11 people in their 30’s
- 13 people in their 20’s
- Six teenagers
- One grade-school-aged child
Currently, Vermilion County has 316 active cases, down slightly from Monday, and a total of 3,833 cases since the pandemic began in March. 40 people locally are hospitalized with the virus.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 7,910 new cases statewide on Tuesday and 145 more deaths. The statewide counts now are 804,174 cases and 13,487 deaths.
Vermilion County’s rolling positivity rate is unchanged from Monday at 13.8 percent. The state’s rate is down to 9.9 percent.
