More than 1,000 people in Vermilion County have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last two weeks, pushing the total case count above 4,000.
The county’s overall case count surpassed 3,000 people on Thanksgiving weekend. 93 new cases were reported on Thursday afternoon, pushing the total count to 4,026 cases.
Vermilion County currently has 322 active cases and 42 people are hospitalized with the virus. The new cases, broken down by age, consist of:
- One person in their 80’s
- Seven people in their 70’s
- 10 people in their 60’s
- 18 people in their 50’s
- Nine people in their 40’s
- 17 people in their 30’s
- 22 people in their 20’s
- Five teenagers
- Two grade-school-aged children
- One preschooler
- One toddler
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 11,101 new cases Thursday along with 196 additional deaths. Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 823,531 cases and 13,861 deaths. The local positivity rate is holding steady at 13.7 percent, and the state’s rate is at 9.5 percent.
