The filing period is getting underway Monday at 8 a.m. for candidates interested in running for local and area school board seats next year. Vermilion County Clerk Cathy Jenkins is reminding potential candidates for school board or the Vermilion County Board of School Trustees that petitions are to be filed in her office. Nominating petitions and other filing forms are available at the County Clerk’s office which is located on the first floor of the Vermilion County Administration Building at 201 North Vermilion Street in Danville. The deadline to file school board petitions is 5 p.m. December 21st.
Any potential candidate should contact the Vermilion County Clerk’s Office to ascertain which district format their school board elects members, and from which areas in the district candidates may be elected.
Numerous other offices will also be on the spring ballot. They include township and city or village offices, library and fire district trustees, community college district trustees and others. Anyone seeking those positions will file with their local Election Official (Clerk or Secretary).
Anyone with questions may contact Lindsay Light, Chief Deputy County Clerk and Supervisor of Elections. You can call 217-554-1911, or at ccelections@vercounty.org.
