A man in his 60’s is the latest person to die from COVID-19 in Vermilion County. The death toll locally from the virus is now at 54 people.
Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Doug Toole also reported 21 new cases Monday afternoon, although the number of active cases has dipped below 300, now at 295 cases. There are currently 33 local residents hospitalized with the virus.
The new cases, broken down by age, consist of:
- Two people in their 80’s
- Four people in their 70’s
- Five people in their 60’s
- Five people in their 50’s
- Three people in their 30’s
- One person in their 20’s
- One teenager
State health officials also announced 7,214 new cases on Monday and 103 more deaths, increasing the statewide totals to 856,118 cases and 14,394 deaths. Illinois’ positivity rate is 8.7 percent, and Vermilion County’s positivity rate is down to 10.1 percent.
