A local man in his 60’s has died of COVID-19, becoming the 55th person in Vermilion County to die of the disease.
Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Doug Toole also reported 67 new cases of the virus on Tuesday afternoon. Currently, Vermilion County has 324 active cases and 34 people hospitalized with the virus.
The new cases, broken down by age, consist of:
- 12 people in their 60’s
- Nine people in their 50’s
- Nine people in their 40’s
- 11 people in their 30’s
- Nine people in their 20’s
- Six teenagers
- Four grade-school-aged children
Vermilion County’s positivity rate ticket up a tenth of a percent to 10.2 percent, while the state’s rolling positivity rate is 8.6 percent. State health officials announced 7,359 new cases on Tuesday along with 117 more deaths. Illinois’ totals are now 863,477 cases and 14,509 deaths.
