The death toll from COVID-19 in Vermilion County is now at 56 people.
Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Doug Toole says a local woman in her 80’s has died from the virus. There have been three deaths from the virus locally in the past three days.
Toole also says that 71 new cases have been confirmed locally. Vermilion County is now up to 4,381 total cases. He says there are currently 321 active cases, and the rolling positivity rate was unchanged at 10.2 percent.
The new cases, broken down by age, are:
- Three people in their 80’s
- Five people in their 70’s
- 12 people in their 60’s
- Seven people in their 50’s
- Four people in their 40’s
- 13 people in their 30’s
- 17 people in their 20’s
- Five teenagers
- Three grade-school-aged children
- Two toddlers
The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 7,123 new cases and 146 more deaths statewide on Wednesday. Illinois has seen a total of 870,600 COVID-19 cases and 14,655 deaths since the pandemic began.
