After spending several days at a rolling positivity rate of 10 percent or lower, Vermilion County’s rate has jumped to 13.5 percent.
Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Doug Toole says that the rolling positivity rate increased to 11.1 percent on Sunday, and then to the current level Monday afternoon. Forty-seven new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Vermilion County on Monday.
Vermilion County now has 330 active cases and 39 people hospitalized with the virus. There have been a total of 4,622 cases in Vermilion County so far.
The new cases, broken down by age, consist of:
- One person in their 90’s
- Two people in their 60’s
- Nine people in their 50’s
- Six people in their 40’s
- Nine people in their 30’s
- 11 people in their 20’s
- Six teenagers
- Three grade-school-aged children
Officials with the Illinois Department of Public Health announced 4,699 new cases statewide on Monday as well as 98 more deaths. The state’s totals are now 905,069 cases and 15,299 deaths. Illinois surpassed 15,000 deaths on Friday.
The state’s positivity rate is 7.5 percent, and in Region 6, which includes Champaign and Vermilion counties, it is 9.1 percent.
