State Senator Scott Bennett is partnering with Robinson Chiropractic to collect socks to donate to homeless shelters in the Danville area.
Bennett’s office says that especially during the winter months, socks are among the most sought-after articles of clothing by people experiencing homelessness.
Worn-out or ragged socks put people at serious risk of foot disease and, during the winter months, in severe danger from the cold. As a result, new socks are greatly needed by those experiencing homelessness—but they are the least donated clothing item at homeless shelters.
Community members can donate socks by dropping them off at Bennett’s office on the third floor of the Vermilion County Administration Building, or at the Robinson Chiropractic locations on Vermilion Street in Danville and in Hoopeston and Westville through January 15th. Collection boxes will be outside of the offices.
Socks will be donated to Crosspoint at The Y, Fair Hope Children’s Ministry and the Danville Rescue Mission.
