The Vermilion County Health Department has added some more deaths to its COVID-19 count dating back to October, which has resulted in an additional 14 deaths being reported.
Administrator Doug Toole says a majority of the new deaths happened in November, and about 48 percent of the county’s total deaths occurred in that month. The new deaths include two people in their 90’s, eight people in their 80’s, and two people each in their 70’s and 60’s.
In addition, 96 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Vermilion County. The new cases include two people in their 90’s, four people in their 80’s, two toddlers and one infant.
Currently, Vermilion County has 331 active cases and 38 people hospitalized with the virus. There have been a total of 4,718 positive cases since the pandemic began in March.
The county’s rolling positivity rate has increased by one-tenth of a percent to 13.7 percent. Last week it was as low as 9.2 percent.
The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 6,239 new cases on Tuesday and 116 more deaths, increasing the state’s totals to 911,308 cases and 15,414 deaths. The state’s rolling positivity rate is 7.4 percent.
