The Vermilion County Health Department says another local resident has died from COVID-19, pushing the death toll up to 78 people.
Administrator Doug Toole says the new death is a woman in her 60’s. He also announced 134 new cases on Saturday afternoon, which follow 117 new cases that were reported on Thursday evening. Vermilion County currently has 774 active cases and 41 people hospitalized with the virus.
The new cases announced on Saturday, broken down by age, consist of:
- Two people in their 90’s
- Two people in their 80’s
- Four people in their 70’s
- 22 people in their 60’s
- 17 people in their 50’s
- 25 people in their 40’s
- 17 people in their 30’s
- 28 people in their 20’s
- Nine teenagers
- Six grade-school-aged children
- One preschooler
- One toddler
The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 4,469 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday afternoon along with 81 more deaths. Currently, the state has a total of 979,821 cases and 16,755 deaths. Illinois’ rolling positivity rate is 8.3 percent, while Vermilion County’s is 9.4 percent and Region 6’s is 8.9 percent.
