Vermilion County has recorded its 80th death from the COVID-19 virus.
Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Doug Toole said Wednesday evening that a man in his 40’s has died from the virus. Just a month ago, the county only had 44 deaths.
In addition, 93 new COVID-19 cases were reported locally. Currently, Vermilion County has 607 active cases and 41 people hospitalized with the virus.
The new cases, broken down by age, consist of:
- One person in their 90’s
- Five people in their 80’s
- 10 people in their 70’s
- 10 people in their 60’s
- 12 people in their 50’s
- 14 people in their 40’s
- 14 people in their 30’s
- 13 people in their 20’s
- Eight teenagers
- Six grade-school-aged children
Vermilion County has had a total of 6,314 cases.
The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 7,569 new cases and 139 deaths statewide on Wednesday.
