Another person has died from COVID-19 in Vermilion County.
County Health Department Administrator Doug Toole said on Friday night that a woman in her 80’s died of the virus. The death count from COVID locally is now at 81 people.
Toole also reported 83 new cases on Friday night and 107 on Sunday afternoon. He says that 28 of the new cases are from the Danville Correction Center. Currently, Illinois Department of Corrections officials say the facility has 182 active cases among inmates and 15 among staff members. More than half (792) of the inmates residing at the prison have tested positive for the coronavirus, although the outbreak has now waned.
The new cases reported on Sunday, broken down by age, consist of:
- Four people in their 90’s
- Six people in their 80’s
- Two people in their 70’s
- 12 people in their 60’s
- 16 people in their 50’s
- 15 people in their 40’s
- 18 people in their 30’s
- 21 people in their 20’s
- Seven teenagers
- Four grade-school-aged children
- One toddler
- One infant
Currently, Vermilion County has 25 COVID hospitalizations and 595 active cases, and a total of 6,583 positive cases.
