Defendants and participants in court cases here in Vermilion County now have a unique way to be reminded of their upcoming court dates.
County Circuit Clerk Melissa Quick says her office is partnering with JANO Technologies to deliver email or text message notifications of upcoming court cases.
Quick says the eNotify system will allow defendants and other constituents of pending court cases and will allow them to receive notifications one day and three days prior to the scheduled date.
The notification will give them the court date, time, location, attorney and charges as well as some other details about the case. Quick does say that the feature is simply a courtesy reminder and that court hearings will continue even if defendants do not receive a notification.
To sign up for electronic court case reminders, you can visit the county’s website, VerCounty.org, click on “Circuit Clerk” and then click on “Court Reminder” from the menu options on the left. You can then enter your email address, cell phone number and the specific case number from which you can receive notifications for.
Visitors to the county’s website can also find current case information and a daily schedule of hearings at the Vermilion County Courthouse.
