The Vermilion County Health Department says 180 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed locally. The number accounts for 117 cases reported on Saturday and 63 on Sunday afternoon.
One more person has died from the virus. Administrator Doug Toole says it is a man in his 70’s. Locally, there have been 87 deaths total.
The new cases, broken down by age, consist of:
- One person in their 90’s
- 11 people in their 80’s
- 19 people in their 70’s
- 24 people in their 60’s
- 26 people in their 50’s
- 21 people in their 40’s
- 31 people in their 30’s
- 33 people in their 20’s
- 18 teenagers
- Nine grade-school-aged children
- Two preschoolers
- Three toddlers
- One infant
Currently, Vermilion County has 19 residents hospitalized with the virus and 535 active cases. There have been a total of 6,923 positive cases since the pandemic began.
Toole says the state tested 20 people at the health department on Saturday, and he says the drive-through testing team will return on Tuesday and Thursday of this week.
