A house in Hegeler has been damaged by a fire that occurred earlier this evening,
Westville Area Fire Chief Bob Ellis says firefighters were called to the home at 30 Arlington Drive around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Firefighters discovered flames above the ceiling in the kitchen area of the home.
A resident of the home says her family was inside watching coverage of the presidential inauguration on television when they smelled smoke. No one was hurt.
Ellis estimates the damage to be around $10,000.
Westville firefighters were assisted by members of the Carlin and Lynch Area fire departments.
