Residents of two housing complexes in Vermilion County will soon see interior renovations to the facilities.
On Thursday afternoon, the board of the Vermilion Housing Authority approved corridor renovation bids for Mer Che Manor, located at the corner of Oak and Woodbury streets in Danville, as well as Centennial Manor Apartments on the northeast side of Hoopeston.
Both approved bids were from Schaumburg Fine Trim of Hoopeston. The bid for the Mer Che Manor project was $145,857, and the bid for the similar project at Centennial Manor was $60,426.
Executive Director Jaclyn Vinson says the projects would only be for the common areas of the complexes, not for any residential apartments. The contractor will replace the ceiling grids on each residential floor, paint the walls and install new trim. She says the project at Mer Che Manor will be started within 30 days and will be done first so that it can be completed before the next project is started.
