The local death toll from COVID-19 increased to 91 people on Saturday, with the newest person to die being a man in his 40’s.
Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Doug Toole also announced 128 cases over the weekend, which include 76 new cases reported on Saturday and 52 new cases reported on Sunday. The county currently has 22 residents hospitalized with the coronavirus, as well as 443 active cases. There have been a total of 7,158 cases.
The new cases, broken down by age, consist of:
- Five people in their 90’s
- Six people in their 80’s
- Seven people in their 70’s
- 18 people in their 60’s
- 14 people in their 50’s
- 18 people in their 40’s
- 18 people in their 30’s
- 18 people in their 20’s
- 13 teenagers
- Five grade-school-aged children
- Three toddlers
- Three infants
Toole also says the Illinois Department of Public Health’s drive-through COVID-19 testing team will be at the health department building (200 S. College St., Danville) on Tuesday and Thursday of this week between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. There is no cost to be tested, and it is open to anyone regardless of symptoms.
