Daryl Hall and John Oates have rolled out their rescheduled itinerary including their summer and fall run with Squeeze and special guest KT Tunstall. As it stands now, Hall & Oates will open up their year on their own with a smattering of shows on their own, kicking things off on April 17th in Indio, California.
The joint Squeeze dates begin on August 5th in Mansfield, Massachusetts, with the 24-date tour running through the fall. Hall & Oates close out their season right where they began — on November 6th in Indio, California.
Fans who have followed Hall & Oates' live career over the years know all too well, that every year the material seems to take on totally new dimensions from the original hits. Daryl Hall explained that from tour to tour, songs can change in some pretty noticeable ways: “These songs have morphed so much. I mean, that's what happens. You have a band that knows each other as well as we do (and) things happen on each song. We leave lots of room for improvisation, changing of the arrangements and stuff like that. That's what keeps them interesting to us, too. Otherwise it would be, just going through the motions.”
Squeeze's Glenn Tilbrook admitted being estranged from Chris Difford for nearly a decade only made him enjoy and respect their partnership more: “Not working together has enabled us to appreciate each other for what we are. And not having the responsibility of going up each other's noses all the time has enabled us to get back our relationship, which was lost, really, when we started making records. I would rather have the relationship with Chris, and friendship, rather than the professional relationship — that's more important to me. And we get on better now than we have done at, y'know, any point since 1976, which is great.”
