The Champaign County Coroner’s Office and Illinois State Police are investigating an incident in a vehicle on Route 136 Saturday night that left one person dead.
State police say that emergency personnel responded to Route 136 and County Road 2600 East around 11 p.m. Saturday. The location is about one mile west of Penfield. One there, they found two people inside the vehicle. A 37-year-old woman was transported to an area hospital with injuries. The other person inside, 46-year-old Robert Ogburn of Ludlow, was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the head.
Police say the case is believed to be an isolated incident. The investigation is ongoing.
