Two more Vermilion County residents have died from COVID-19.
Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Doug Toole says the deaths are a woman in her 80’s and a man in his 60’s.
The health department is also reporting 330 new cases. 148 new cases were reported on Friday evening, and Toole also reported 182 new cases on Sunday night, all of which occurred at the Danville Correctional Center. There have now been 929 total cases among inmates at the prison and 140 cases among staff members.
Currently, Vermilion County has 282 active cases. The total number of cases in Vermilion County now stands at 7,988. There are currently 14 Vermilion County residents who are hospitalized with COVID-19.
As of Sunday night, the Illinois Department of Public Health reports that 942 Vermilion County residents have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19. 8,073 total doses have been administered.
Overall, 295,437 Illinois residents have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19. The state is also reporting a total of 1,146,341 cases and 19,633 deaths. The seven-day statewide positivity rate is 3.4 percent.
