The Vermilion County Health Department is reporting that 27 more COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in the county.
The new cases, broken down by age, consist of:
- One person in their 90’s
- One person in their 80’s
- One person in their 70’s
- Seven people in their 60’s
- Six people in their 50’s
- One person in their 40’s
- Five people in their 30’s
- Two people in their 20’s
- One teenager
- Two grade-school-aged children
Currently, 12 Vermilion County residents are hospitalized and there are 313 active cases in the county. The total number of cases is at 8,291 and 101 people have died due to the virus.
The Illinois Department of Public Health announced on Monday that the state has surpassed 20,000 COVID deaths. The state also announced that the inclement weather across the country is causing some delays in the shipment of COVID-19 vaccines. They say that Illinois purchased vaccines from the Strategic National Stockpile site in Illinois so its doses will not be a part of the delay.
Illinois’s rolling positivity rate is 2.8 percent, while Region 6’s is 3.5 percent and Vermilion County’s is at 4 percent.
