Danville District 118 school board members will consider a replacement for board member Gladys Davis at their meeting Wednesday night.
Davis, a retired educator and longtime community volunteer, resigned from the board last week. She and her husband, the Rev. R.J. Davis, have both been battling health issues for several weeks. R.J. Davis is not seeking reelection to the city council in the April election.
Gladys Davis retired from Danville Area Community College as director of the child development center. She was first elected to the board in 2015, and reelected in 2019.
Superintendent Dr. Alicia Geddis declined to say who the new board member will be, other than the person will be named at Wednesday’s meeting.
Four seats on the board will be on the April 6th election ballot. All four incumbents–Dr. Randal Ashton, Darlene Halloran, Lon Henderson and Shannon Schroeder–are running for four-year terms, and are being challenged by local pastors Ricky Hoskins and Tyson Parks and food service manager Harsha Gurujal. The other two board members, elected in 2019, are board president Bill Dobbles and Pastor Thomas Miller.
