The death toll from COVID-19 in Vermilion County is now up to 102 people after another death was announced on Friday night by the Vermilion County Health Department.
Administrator Doug Toole says it was a woman in her 70’s who passed away. He also reported 34 new cases, including three people in their 80’s and one toddler.
Currently, 11 Vermilion County residents are hospitalized with COVID-19 symptoms, and 269 cases are considered active.
The Illinois Department of Public Health says that Region 6, which includes Danville and much of east central Illinois, has a rolling positivity rate of 3.4 percent. Vermilion County’s is at 3.5 percent, down one percentage point from last week.
The state says that 2,222 county residents are considered fully vaccinated, while a total of 11,886 doses have been administered.
